This will be our fifteenth year of Christmas on the Radio. It may well be the last.
I'll be honest. I've never made a penny nor had a good sponsor since the first year of our program.
Every time we go to do this show, we get some things lined up, then at the last minute the sponsors either
fail to make deadline on getting us copy or just pull out.
Last year I couldn't even sell the show locally - our economy here was just too bad.
Now that the local radio station decided they couldn't afford a local person, my last amount of incentive to produce the program just disapearred. I also pulled the plug
on our weekly old time radio retrospective this year, another victim of finances and clearances.
I decided this year I was going to pull out all the stops and make this the best program ever.
This year won't be the usual collection of a big variety of shows.
This will be my favorite shows of all time. Picked by me.
With hundreds of hours of Classic Christmas programming there are some really great shows that we've never aired.
This year, since we have no sponsor, I decided to give you a chance to start a collection of Christmas Classics of your own.
These Christmas programs will come to you on a single CD playable in a home computer or most DVD players, and contains over 120 radio programs
with nearly 48 hours of great Christmas shows.
This single disc contains great comedy from Red Skelton, Fred Allen, Marie Wilson as My Friend Irma, and Ed Gardner as Archie in the long running "Duffy's Taver
You'll hear wonderful "slice of life" programs such as a live via shortwave program from wartime Europe, CBS News anchor Douglas Edwards visiting the North Pole,
The Command Performance Christmas programs from 1943 and 1946 entertaining our troops "over there", and a three hour presentation of the Paul Whiteman Orchestra on ABC's Christmas Party.
You'll hear crime drama from Barrie Craig - Confidnetial Investigator, Big Town, Nightbeat, Suspense and the Whistler. There's Western Adventure from Jimmy Stewart as the Six Shooter, Joel McCrae in Tales of the Texas Rangers, and the Red Ryder.
